Vicente Boria
Vicente E. Boria was born in Valencia, Spain, on May 18, 1970. He received his “Ingeniero de Telecomunicación” and “Doctor Ingeniero de Telecomunicación” degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Valencia, Spain, in 1993 and 1997, respectively.
In 1993 he joined the “Departamento de Comunicaciones” at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, where he is Full Professor since 2003. In 1995 and 1996, he was holding a Spanish Trainee position with the European Space Research and Technology Centre, European Space Agency (ESTEC-ESA), Noordwijk, The Netherlands, where he was involved in the area of EM analysis and design of passive waveguide devices for space applications. Since 1997 he leads the R&D Group on Microwave Applications (GAM), integrated within the Research Institute on Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
His current research interests are focused on the analysis, synthesis and automated design of passive components in waveguide, planar and hybrid technologies, on left-handed and periodic structures, as well as on the simulation and measurement of high power effects in passive components. In these topics, Dr. Boria has authored or co-authored 7 chapters in technical textbooks, 80 papers in refereed international technical journals, and over 150 papers in relevant international conference proceedings. He has supervised 10 Ph.D. thesis works, and has lead more than 30 R&D projects funded by public bodies and industries. He is also member of the Editorial Boards of the most relevant IEEE and IET journals on microwave techniques and applications, as well as member of the Technical Committees of the IEEE-MTT International Microwave Symposium and of the European Microwave Conference.
In 2006, Dr. Boria co-founds the spin-off company “AuroraSAT”, where he is a Scientific Advisor on full-wave EM simulation techniques and automated design methods of passive waveguide components for high frequency applications. Since 2010 he co-funds Valencia Space Consortium (VSC), a public consortium for promoting and leading Space-related scientific, technological and dissemination activities, where he is the Chairman of VSC Executive Commission.
